This week, over 2,000 students at Ohio State University took a significant step in their faith journey during an extraordinary revival event that drew an astonishing 6,500 attendees to The Schott sports arena. Despite frigid temperatures falling into the teens, students showed immense dedication, not only gathering in large numbers but also participating in on-site baptisms in the backs of U-Haul trucks.
Unite US, the organizing group behind this impactful event, has been increasingly present on college campuses since its outreach began in September 2023, touching the lives of roughly 70,000 students in various locations. The founder, Tonya Prewett, shared her enthusiasm on social media, reflecting on the ongoing spiritual momentum among students. “We’ve been in awe of how God has already been moving on this campus over the past year,” she wrote on Instagram. Prewett expressed her excitement about the gathering, emphasizing that nearly 2,000 students committed to their faith, experiencing freedom through their spiritual decisions.
Pastor Matt Brown remarked on the spontaneous baptisms that have been a hallmark of these campus events, highlighting the dedication of the students who braved the cold for their faith. He noted the impressive commitment shown by attendees who chose to be baptized in makeshift settings, even in adverse weather conditions.
This revival isn’t the group’s first large gathering this year, with a similar event occurring just a week prior at the University of Kentucky. Ohio State had previously hosted a revival in August 2024, where several members of the university’s football team participated, leading to around 60 baptisms. The excitement around that event also led to a surge in attendance, as estimates for that gathering ranged from 800 to 2,000, showcasing the interest among students.
Adding another layer to the revival craze, the future schedule for Unite US includes a planned outreach at Purdue University in Indiana on March 5, keeping the momentum of this spiritual movement alive across campus communities.
