Trump celebrates early achievements in Capitol address [Watch in Full]

In a spirited address to Congress, President Donald Trump took center stage, reflecting on his administration’s swift accomplishments since taking office. The atmosphere in the chamber was electric as supporters joined in chants of “U-S-A, U-S-A,” while Trump celebrated what he deemed the dawning of a “golden age of America.”

Trump’s proclamation came just six weeks after he marked his inauguration beneath the Capitol dome. “From that moment on, it has been nothing but swift and unrelenting action to usher in the greatest and most successful era in the history of our country,” he declared. He boldly asserted that his administration had achieved more in the first 43 days than many presidents accomplish in their entire terms.

His remarks were met with fierce interruption from the Democratic side, with members vehemently objecting as Speaker Mike Johnson attempted to restore order. Amidst the chaos, Texas Democrat Al Green was notably defiant, shaking his cane and asserting his presence, prompting Speaker Johnson to request his removal from the floor.

As the president continued, he highlighted significant initiatives such as the establishment of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is headed by none other than entrepreneurial giant Elon Musk. The president commended Musk’s efforts, stating, “Thank you. Elon. He’s working very hard.” He also addressed a staggering figure regarding government fraud, noting, “The Government Accountability Office has estimated annual fraud of over $500 billion in our nation. And we are working very hard to stop it.”

In his extensive review of actions taken in office, Trump mentioned that he had signed more than 81 executive orders. These ranged from mandating the return of federal workers to their offices, to reinstating free speech by dismantling prior government censorship measures. Furthermore, he voiced his stance on social issues, affirming, “There are only two genders, male and female,” and addressing the bans on transgender athletes in women’s sports.

One of the more contentious points he discussed was the implementation of a new immigration initiative offering a pathway to citizenship for successful migrants via the purchase of a “Gold Card” costing $5 million. He elaborated on his commitment to honor everyday Americans by sharing poignant stories, including that of Laken Riley, a nursing student tragically killed by an undocumented migrant.

Another touching moment came when Trump honored 13-year-old D.J. Daniel, a brain cancer survivor whose dream of joining law enforcement was fulfilled that evening when he was declared an honorary agent of the United States Secret Service by the President himself.

As the address concluded, Senator Elissa Slotkin of Michigan took to the airwaves, delivering a rebuttal on behalf of the Democrats. She challenged Trump’s approach, stating, “It’s at risk when the president decides you can pick and choose what rules you want to follow when he ignores court orders and the Constitution itself.”

Despite the interruptions and criticisms, Trump remained steadfast in his optimistic vision for America’s future, proclaiming, “Fellow Americans, get ready for an incredible future. Because the Golden Age of America has only just begun. It will be like nothing that has ever been seen before. Thank you. God bless you and God bless America.”
