Well, look who’s back. Former President Joe Biden crawled out from under his rock Tuesday for his first public speech since vacating the White House, and surprise, surprise – he thinks America is falling apart. Speaking at a conference in Chicago, Biden wrung his hands over national unity, or the lack thereof.
“We can’t go on like this as a divided nation as divided as we are,” he declared, claiming he has “never” seen the country in such a state. Wonder who was president before the current guy?

And who’s to blame for this unprecedented division, according to Joe? Apparently, it’s a whole chunk of the population. Biden pointed fingers at “30 percent” of Americans, diagnosing them as having “no heart.” Charming.
Naturally, the speech quickly turned into an attack on the Trump administration. Biden accused his successor of causing “so much damage and so much destruction” already. His prime example? Social Security.
Biden wailed that the administration took a “hatchet” to the beloved program, claiming cuts to staff, phone lines, and offices would kneecap seniors trying to get their benefits. Never mind that President Trump has repeatedly promised not to cut Social Security. Biden’s trying to stir the pot, alleging seniors are under threat.
Legacy media outlets like NBC and ABC dutifully amplified Biden’s alarm bells. NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell framed it as Biden defending Social Security from Trump’s supposed threats. ABC’s Rachel Scott highlighted the “hatchet” comment and the alleged “breathtaking” damage, even looping in unrelated comments from Elon Musk about potential cuts to government spending.
So, Biden’s big return involved complaining about division he arguably fostered and dusting off the same old Democrat playbook: scare seniors about Social Security. We’ll see how that plays out.
