One Dead in FSU Rampage, Student Activists Demand Gun Divestment

Tragedy struck Florida State University Thursday as gunfire erupted at the Student Union, leaving at least one person dead and six others wounded. The midday chaos sent students scrambling for cover and put the Tallahassee campus on lockdown.

University alerts blasted out just after noon, warning of an active shooter near the busy student hub. Cops swarmed the scene, and by 3 p.m., the lockdown was lifted after authorities nabbed a lone suspect, identified as a former FSU student.

Three firearms were recovered – one found on the suspect, another stashed in a nearby car, and a shotgun discovered right at the scene. Six injured victims were rushed to Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, with one reported in critical condition.

The FBI has joined the investigation into the horrific attack. Both President Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis expressed their concern following the incident.

This isn’t the first time violence has hit the FSU campus. Back in 2014, a gunman injured three people at the university’s Strozier Library before being taken down by police.

The FSU community, home to over 42,000 students, is now grappling with the aftermath. In a swift reaction, the student assembly reportedly passed a resolution demanding the university pull investments from the gun industry, pushing an activist agenda even as the investigation just begins.

Authorities are still piecing together the motive behind Thursday’s deadly rampage as the campus tries to recover from the shock.

What are these schools teaching these kids all the wrong things. Years ago this sh-t never happened it was on heard of now these kids are pissed of at the world or certain political groups or ethnic groups but were are they getting all this infuriating information to make these people want to kill each other. These are school classmates killing each other these teachers are pushing these kids to take sides in everything and push stand up for what you want. These world doesn’t live like that everyone doesn’t get a free ride or an ice cream for doing nothing. Teachers pushing politics on what they believe or their agendas is wrong and these teachers should be fired they are corrupting or kids. Most of them have no idea about politics or political viewpoints. Teachers need to start taking responsibility also.

You have nicely expressed my thoughts. I believe you placed the blame where it belongs. This idea of not being able to disagree without extreme anger has to come from somewhere and activist rhetoric is a great place to start.

Right on! The teaching is definitely going in the wrong direction. Politics never, ever entered the teachings years ago.

The teachers are all, apparently, radicals from the 60’s who have ‘NEVER’ given up their radical anti-Nam feelings and are now old enough to push their ultra-radical ideas into the mushy- brained high schoolers.

Remove this group of propagandized teachers and the problem will go away.
