Bulls Star Coby White Declares God Saved My Life

Chicago Bulls guard Coby White isn’t just lighting up the scoreboard, he’s crediting a higher power for his incredible turnaround on and off the court. The young star says his journey through tough times has forged him into a better player and man, all thanks to his deep Christian faith.

White, reflecting on his five-plus years in the league, wouldn’t change a thing about the struggles. “Sometimes you’ve got to go through stuff,” he told Bulls writer Sam Smith, adding that God prepares you and you just need patience and faith. He admits he wasn’t ready early on and needed “more maturing,” but kept the faith.

Growing up in North Carolina, faith was central to White’s family life. He recalls his father praying aloud every night, a memory that stuck with him. After tragically losing his father, White leaned heavily on his faith to navigate the grief. “God saved my life,” White declared, saying it changed his family’s lives for the better. He’s not shy about sharing that message, no matter what others think.

This isn’t new for White. Back in 2019, after a record-setting rookie performance sinking seven 3-pointers in a quarter, he immediately gave credit where he felt it was due: “I give all the glory to God, He put me in this position.”

He’s consistently spoken about how his parents taught him humility and kindness, values rooted in their faith. White even feels his late father’s presence guiding him through tough moments. For Coby White, faith isn’t just part of his life; it’s the foundation for everything he does, driving his growth from a raw talent into a mature leader for the Bulls.
